Capacity and Learning

The Global WASH Cluster (GWC) exists to strengthen system-wide preparedness and coordination of response capacity, providing clear leadership and accountability in humanitarian crises. As a priority, the GWC supports national coordination platforms in the delivery of the 6+1 core functions.

The GWC’s capacity development and learning strategy consists of generic and tailored training capacity development and learning options to strengthen national coordination platforms (NCPs). It includes training courses, coaching and job shadowing for NCPs. Mentoring is also available for UNICEF water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) staff and standby partners interested in progressing in or taking on cluster coordination roles.

The GWC Capacity Development and Learning strategy 2022 has been developed to address one of the key strategic objectives of the GWC’s Strategic Plan 2022–2025.
