In this August 2024 edition of our newsletter, we bring you a rich and diverse array of news, key updates, and events from GWC CAST, National Coordination Platforms (NCPs), GWC members and partners such as UNICEF, IOM, Action Contre la Faim, the Triple Nexus Initiative, WASH Web, RWSN, and the Geneva Water Hub.
The latest update of the UN System-wide Strategy for Water and Sanitation sheds the spotlight on innovative multi-stakeholder partnerships, such as the Global WASH Cluster, that support countries' progress on water and sanitation in humanitarian settings—this corresponds to Output 2.2 of the strategy. The GWC Collective Outcomes initiative, and related events such as the Joined-up Action for Humanitarian and Development Collective Outcomes to Accelerate SDG 6 during the UN Water Conference 2023, were provided as avenues for further collaboration between humanitarian WASH and development stakeholders, and bring countries closer to their SDG 6 targets. This year, World Water Week also serves as another excellent venue to tackle the humanitarian-development nexus divide in the context of WASH and highlight the importance of coordination.
