Learning and recommendations on the use of CLTS in emergency and post conflict/post-emergency situations

This forum includes an update on learning and practice in relation to health and hygiene promotion, and community involvement in emergency programs with a focus on the use of Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS). It was found that the use of CLTS in emergencies has not focused on the type or phase of an emergency response, thus making them not as effective. A few points that were brought up at the HP Forum included that two non-negotiable points must be emphasized within the CLTS process - handwashing with soap and safe dis'posal of children's feces, and that it may be more appropriate to focus on Total Sanitation rather than purely CLTS.
